Product Description
The Grandstream GXW4248 48-Port FXS VoIP Gateway is a high-density analog VoIP gateway designed to connect up to 48 traditional analog telephone devices to modern IP-based communication networks. It is part of Grandstream’s GXW4200 Series and is suitable for businesses that want to retain existing analog phones, fax machines, or legacy PBX equipment while moving toward SIP and VoIP communication. Grandstream specifies the GXW4248 with 48 FXS ports, 48 SIP accounts, four SIP server profiles, and one Gigabit Ethernet port.
The GXW4248 provides high-quality voice communication with support for wideband audio sampling up to 16kHz and codecs including Opus and G.722. It supports simultaneous 3-way voice conferencing per port, along with advanced features such as echo cancellation, jitter buffering, Voice Activity Detection (VAD), Comfort Noise Generation (CNG), and Packet Loss Concealment (PLC).
For network connectivity, the gateway includes a 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet interface. The GXW4248 uses two 50-pin RJ21 Telco connectors for its 48 FXS interfaces rather than individual RJ11 connectors. It can be installed on a desktop or in a rack, making it suitable for larger deployments.
The Grandstream GXW4248 is designed to work with leading IP-PBX systems, softswitches, and SIP-based platforms. Security features include SRTP, TLS, HTTPS, secure boot, unique device certificates, randomized default passwords, and dual firmware images. It also supports T.38 or pass-through fax over IP, making it a flexible solution for organizations transitioning from analog to IP telephony.
